Helen Marie Curb, 95, of Odessa, passed away on July 30, 2017 at Medical Center Hospital. She was born July 25, 1922, near Sterling, Oklahoma, the oldest child of Harry M. & Otie Girdner Loper.She attended school at Sterling for 12 years, graduated in 1940, and went to Cameron Jr. College at Lawton, Oklahoma, worked part time in the school cafeteria, and also at Ft. Sill, Ok. She married Dan Curb, Jr. on Dec. 12, 1942 in Oklahoma City, and continued to live there during WWII, while working at Douglas Aircraft and Tinker Air Field,...

Helen Marie Curb, 95, of Odessa, passed away on July 30, 2017 at Medical Center Hospital. She was born July 25, 1922, near Sterling, Oklahoma, the oldest child of Harry M. & Otie Girdner Loper.She attended school at Sterling for 12 years, graduated in 1940, and went to Cameron Jr. College at Lawton, Oklahoma, worked part time in the school cafeteria, and also at Ft. Sill, Ok. She married Dan Curb, Jr. on Dec. 12, 1942 in Oklahoma City, and continued to live there during WWII, while working at Douglas Aircraft and Tinker Air Field, and Dan was in combat overseas. After the war they moved to Houston, TX. And she transferred her Civil Service to Reconstruction Finance Corp, and later to Federal National Mortgage Assoc., (Fannie Mae) She quit working outside the home when the Adoption Agency suggested they learn to live on one income before adopting a child.She became active and participated in many Church programs, taught Primary children in Sunday School, served as Women's Missionary Union Director, Baptist Women's President, helped with community service projects, Day Care Centers, Nursing Homes, Vacation Bible Schools, Girls Auxiliary Camps, BSU Lunches, Door of Hope mission, and Meals on Wheels. Sang in Church Choirs, and loved Gospel and Country Music. She loved the out-of-doors, and often took her grandchildren on walks to explore, and study nature.
Mrs. Curb was a member of Crescent Park Baptist Church, Past Matron and Endowed member of Friendship Chapter #1008, Order of the Eastern Star, served as Secretary for 9 years, and many years on Special Committees of the Grand Chapter of Texas. Mrs. Curb was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, one daughter Boni German, one grand-daughter, and one great grandson. She is survived by her grandchildren, Jenifer Lynn Dunlap Gonzales, of Havelock, North Carolina, Julia Anne Dunlap, of Odessa, Joshua Daniel Storts of New Bern, North Carolina, and Joseph Benjamin Storts, of Odessa. One sister Mary Louise Hadden of Corpus Christi, Texas, one sister-in-law Marta Loper of Goodyear, Arizona, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. Frank W. Wilson Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will held on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 4:00p.m. Frank W. Wilson Funeral Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Braswell, officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
